Blue Eyed Marys Restaurant

Delicious food prepared and served with care on Bowen Island

Carol & Stephen

We started Blue Eyed Marys in 1999 so we could raise our family on Bowen and also to create a restaurant that offers honest carefully prepared food. For the last eight years our little restaurant has allowed us to be with our daughters, Frankie and Joey, and help our guests enjoy many evenings of celebration or just a quiet dinner. Blue Eyed Marys is a 40 seat comfortable room that reflects our unpretentious attitude toward dining. We make all our food from bread to ice cream. We change our menu monthly and use as many local ingredients as possible. Some of our produce is even grown on Bowen!

Carol Wallace is our Chef. Carol has been a cook all her life. Baking has always been her passion and in 1992 she graduated first in her class from the Malaspina College Culinary Arts program. Carol then did her three year apprenticeship at Bishop’s restaurant in Vancouver. After obtaining her Red Seal she continued to work at Bishop’s until 1999 when we opened Blue Eyed Marys.

Stephen Biddiscombe is Carol’s husband and runs the dining room. Stephen has worked in many restaurants in Ontario and was a Manager for Milestone’s, and General Manager of Ecco il Pane in Vancouver before moving to Bowen. Stephen’s wine list is all West Coast; focused on British Columbia. The wine list changes to suit the menu and is similarly priced.

We intend our service to be as honest and without airs as our food. We are informal and familiar and hope that our guests are too.

Bowen Island is a 20 minute ferry trip from the Horseshoe Bay terminal in West Vancouver. Horseshoe Bay is about a 25-40 minute drive from Downtown Vancouver.

If you plan to make the trip to Blue Eyed Marys you won’t need your car - we are only 100m from the ferry - but a reservation is a very good idea.
